First drafts R.O.C.K

This is my first draft of my front cover. I like it however, there are many things that I want to change. I want to make sure that i move the cover lines to the left hand side of the page so that you can see it in a shop. I also want to move the male image and put something over his feet as they have been cut off. I will also change the fonts used and stick to a 3 colour scheme, as I dont like the colours and fonts used. Finally I will look at changing the mast head, making it larger and a different font so that it stands out more.

This was my first draft of my contents page, it was only quick, so it was very rushed. I will look at changing the whole thing. I dont like the fact that the same model has been used on both my front cover and contents page. Also the text looks very bland and I dont like the font that has been used, and therefore I will look at changing this.

This was my first draft of my double page spread, I used dafont for the text and I really like the fonts that i have included. I stuck to the same colour scheme or red and black which is very rockish. I next time will include more images and put the model in different clothing so it looks more professional. I will also write in 3 columns as this will look more professional too.

Double Page Images

Here I created a collage of the images that I will be using for my double page spread. I have decided that I wont use the images with crosses on them mainly because I don't think they're appropriate for teenagers. It may encourage alcohol and smoking therefore I don't want my magazine to give off this vibe and I can portray the rock genre through other areas instead of drink and violence.

Draft of Front Page

Interview for the Double Page spread Draft

Interview With Iconic Rock Star Manson

What is the background to your stage name Manson? Did you have any other ideas before this one?
“It means the fierce one, and this is evident in the music that I produce as it all stems from the bad childhood I went through. I use my music as an escapism and way to express my feelings instead of going off the rails, and I think more people should do this now days. I also had another stage name called Mateus, this means God is present, as I am a religious person, although I went against this name as I feel Manson suits me best and is a name that’s more memorable and catchy”.

How did you become a rock star? At what age did you realise rock music was your passion as well as your profession in life?
“I had known ever since I had been young that I wanted to sing in life, but it was only at the age of 15 when I was kicked out of my foster home for being called a Goth and an Emo, that I realised instead of living up to these stereotypes I wanted to prove everyone one. From then on I started busking in towns and mainly underground at the tube stations, I used to sleep there and the staff there used to give me a free meal every day”.

How did you work your way up to where you are now?
“After my busking phase I made a CD record, not thinking anything would come of it I got many copies made and then handed it into various record companies in London and then I got a phone call one day and I went up to the Liverpool Headquarter studios and produced my first ever record and signed my first contract. It was the best day of my life”.

How does it feel to be such an iconic rock star?
“It feels awesome! It’s something that I dreamed of when I was a young boy and now it has finally came true. Hard work always pays off, and so does determination, and it is only because of that, that I am where I am today. I hope to inspire many people out there who was like me, to not give up on your dreams, as anything is possible”.

Thank you Manson, do you have any advice for your fans out there?
“Only that you should never give up, and use all negativity and criticism as ambition to succeed. Believe in yourself even if no one else does”.

Finally, what is next in the future for Manson?
“I go on tour in April across the country and I hope to go international and take to America next year, but for now I’m devoted to making music in my home town and I’m loving every minute of it”.

Images for rock magazine

These were a few test shots that i took for the cover of my magazine. I wanted to get a rough idea of what the costumes would look like all together on the model, as well as the dark gothic makeup and back combed hairstyle. Overall, i found out that the makeup and outfit choice worked really well, however i may consider changing the location of the images to something more creative to give off a more professional, sophisticated look.
